    Hello

My name is Jake and I have a 68 Fox Campus Bike.

Motor is a 5hp Solid State Craftsman (which I believe to be an old Briggs from a tiller). I have the throttle body from the tiller with the control lever mounted on the bike to try to help regulate the governor better.

    Carb is a Chinese-made XR 80

Exhaust is a straight Pipe with a Muffler bolted on.

After a weekend of exhausting tinkering, I got it to run. My fiance who is no stranger to ATVs and such, jump on and I got it started. She rode it around the field and then the chain came off. We got it back on and then the chain popped. So... We are now going to go to the auto store and get a new chain!

Any tips on chain size? I figure since this chain may be quite old, I'm just going to replace it rather than try to repair it...

    Cheers,
    Jake

Looks like #35 chain, if you have a choice I would opt for better quality, be sure to check the rear wheel bearings for play, the wheel could be moving around efecting proper chain alignment, inspect the sprocket for runout while your there, nice Campus by the way!!...................Tom.

Thank you all for replying! Sorry for getting back to you all so late. I've got the chain on and it's doing fine. It does like to come off and this may be the case for a bike with a soft tail? Wondering about getting / making a chain tensioner out of a skate board wheel? Thoughts?
    Thanks again!

If it's set up properly the chain should stay on, check your rear wheel sprocket to jackshaft drive sprocket alignment, when you sit on the bike does the chain become excessivly loose?...........Just a couple of several things it could be.........................Tom.
