Very nice choice off colors Pete.Looks like the coater got the colors on nice and even.Dark colors and silver are always the hardest to use because they show everything if not preped properly.Love how these colors are going to really make the chrome stand out.I always learn something from your threads.
    Thanks for posting

    More adjusting...

Mocked up jackshaft to set the rear fender correctly and, also to make sure the license plate clears the fender. Three areas of concern: 1) As shown with Copperhead, the fender struts needed to clear the caliper; 2) the fender needed to sit high enough to not be hit by excessive chain slop (if the guard didn't catch it) given the length of the chain; and 3) the fender at maximum spring compression couldn't strike the license plate.

All this to make a 3 1/2" long aluminum forward support. So, 3 hours later, this is what we ended up with:

Side view of the fender which was carefully balanced front/rear. Not gap between license plate and fender.

The license plate bracket was tweaked another 10 degrees to give at least 1/2" clearance to the fender--

Rather than bending (typical) the front brace around the swing arm, I used a rubber lined strap. The aluminum flat stock was heated to bend it about 10 degrees to fit under the fender and not mess with the geometry at the rear axle/shocks/caliper. Heating the flat stock gave me a much tighter bend in this piece which still needs TLC.

Thanks, E! This build has gone much more smoothly than last year's build! Maybe it was easier...???

Thanks--I try to show how to do this stuff with simple home tools. Shipping stuff out just kills me.
