identifying

is it hs for ohv, hh for flathead and h for ohc?

how can I tell if an engine is an hs40 if it is missing the shroud? I go to a scrap yard that has a lot of tecumsehs laying around but 99% of the shrouds are off. How can I tell if they are a hs40 not an hs35? thanks

Testes my Briggs for a few minutes, the clutch gave out (it was old) but when i took mini back to truck, then tried starting,....wouldnt start! took home, cover off, cam out and noticed the intake lobe has been shaved flat *exhaust lobe is normal. check my pics...
