is there such a thing as a 5/8 width -5 inch long shaft with threads on both ends?

My question is I have a motor with two shafts and when I put the clutch on I think the chain is going to hit the second shaft. Can I cut the second shaft off shorter or is there a better idea.
I picked up a 5 hp tecumseh and it has 2 shafts coming out of the side cover. It was on a snow blower.
The model is HS50 67008A I think
What is the smaller shaft for and can I take it out when I tear it apart??
I am looking for a complete swing arm assembly to fit a BC-1000 Bonanza Mini bike - currently it is a rigid frame on rear and small shocks in front. If anyone out there has the assembly I am in the market to buy. Will need swing arm jack shafts sprockets and bearings.
i traded a briggs electric starter and pull start today for a running tecumseh HM80.
it came off a snowblower and has the throttle hooked up for a cable! score!

I have about 3 engines with 1" output shafts. Horsepower ratings range from 6HP to 20+HP.
Aside from "Damn they're expensive!" What all can you tell me about clutches in this range?

Does a jack shaft give you more torque so you can climb a hill or what is the purpose? I'm trying to build a bike or kart that would climb a hill. Or will a torque converter be the answer? I'm dumb to the subject.
