3.5 hp b/s carb under tank not starting...

hey guys..

I have a 3.5 (older ) b/s horizontal shaft engine.
it starts with ether but dies shortly after..

I replaced the side gasket and the gasket under between the tank and carb to no avail..
can anyone give me some advice on getting this carb straightened out ...

did you clean the jet with a wire cleaner and blow out the jet & idle ckt with the idle mixture screw removed? The idle mixture screw if you had not done so already you may want to turn in and note the turns to lightly seat and if unknown what it was originally 1 to 1 1/2 turns out is a good starting point.
