420cc Predator budget build

So I have a 420cc predator that I plan on putting on a homemade mini and I want some input on adding some cheap power and also if a 1" 17 tooth #40 chain cheapo hillard clutch from Northern Tool will handle the power...I was thinking a header and air cleaner and jetting the stock carb...would that work? And if so what should the carb be jetted to? I'd really appreciate any info or ideas as I'm getting antsy to ride this thing! Lol

I have that hilliard clutch on an 11hp and that clutch SUCKS! It is so slow to engage, you can walk faster than that bike will accelerate until the clutch finally locks up. No fun at all

Can you change the engagement springs on that clutch then???? :wink:

Yes you can change the springs. But I have the same clutch but 3/4 on my 212cc predator and right out of the box it engages at idle so the Kart will take off on ya if you aren't on the brake...weird

The predator (at lest mine wit a tach) idles at 1400 rpms....
