baja doodle bug engine problem

so i bought a baja doodle bug of craiglist. It sat for a year. when the dude i got it from tried to start it but wouldnt start. so i got it cheap. when i got it home gas smelt like turpintine so i drained the tank and flushed the tank and changed the plug and took apart the carb and cleaned it. and flushed the fuel line. so after all that it wont start. its getting fuel to the carb bowl and spark. i shot some carb cleaner through the spark plug hole and it ignites. i ran out of ideas. please help

When you cleaned the carb, did you remove the jets and clean them? Make sure you could see daylight through them?

i sprayed a whole bottle of carb cleaner. and it shot through the jets. how do u remove the jets

A small flathead screwdriver will remove the main jet, just be careful. .. They are brass and pretty soft so be gentle. After you remove the main jet there is an emulsion tube that is behind the main, it's probably clogged as well. That one will usually come out by just tapping the carb lightly.
