Not an ideal setup but as long as the fuel level in the tank is above the highest point in the fuel line you will have flow to the carb. Some slack in the fuel line would be a good idea.
Just like a syphon, it will flow until the level of the surface of the fuel is the same as your needle valve.
In other words, it might run out of gas to the carb even though you have a half full tank.

You can also make brackets and bolt the tank to the engine. My fuel line and filter loop below the carb level but the tank sits above it and works fine for me.
