db30 governor problem

#1
I replaced the carb on my stock Dirt Bug. Now the governor won't let it run under half throttle unless I manually push the governor arm toward the chain. I would appreciate suggestions for fixing this problem.

Welcome. Sounds like you stretched the spring or have it in the wrong location on the governor arm, there are threads showing photos of the setup for reference if you look. Past that I cannot tell you what to do because I've only ever thrown away or parted out those engines. I have two DBs that both have briggs engines and they are now trouble free and started and ran fine even after sitting all winter.

Thanks for the replies. I have figured out that the hitch pin on the governor's pivot shaft is the problem. It was hitting on the tang just above the shaft ( behind the pinch bolt). I must have caused the pin to rotate on the shaft.

Hello lgbyblock,

Glad you got it figured out. When set-up right the governor on these little engines works pretty well IMO.
