I picked up this DB30 Doodlebug from Craigslist yesterday for $100.
His kid test rode it for me. I took it home. Put my kids on it and noticed the power was not good, not even close to stock power.
Found the choke was on. Turned off the choke, engine goes dead. Won't run with choke off.
I had a Motovox MBX10 motor with broken crankshaft. Put that carb on the DB30 doodlebug. It runs with choke off, but won't idle. Swapped out govenor springs, since the doodle bug seemed to have a "tired" spring. Still won't idle.
Finally pull the sparkplug...it had a splitfire plug, with lot of carbon on it. Swapped sparkplug and we are good to go.
Not sure if you have seen the commercial of the guy that took his pushmower completely apart in his driveway and it turned out he was like out of gas or just needed a new sparkplug......but it appears that I too am "that guy" :blink:
on a side note, also noticed that the front fender was on backwards...kinda weird. I switch it back around.
