How to clean off mud?

How should I go about cleaning mud off my engine? I was in some trails (without a rear fender) and took a wrong turn into a mud! I was revving it trying to take it out and realized the whole engine got caked in mud due to the lack of a rear fender. Only issue is I have no running hose water because it's winter. I've tried using a towel and stick, but that only got the easy to reach stuff off.

wait til spring and use the hose? take it to a self serve car wash..

Hose and pressure washer.... Other than that.... Good luck

Put it in the bathtub when nobody is looking.....

Bucket of water, brushes, towels, putty knife, and more buckets of water.
And a fire to keep warm.

Connect your garden hose to your washing machine water supply. Just a thought! Have fun!!
