Jack Shaft questions

I have seen a jack shaft set up on 2 bikes where it moves the sprockets to the right side of the rear tire, what is the deal with that? what purpose does it serve and where do you get them? Im thinking it is to move the gear so you don't knock the chain off when racing on a left turn oval?? Thanks

Jackshafts can be used to correct gearing issues as well as to center the engine in the frame. Most minibike suppliers sell jackshaft kits. OldMiniBikes, MFG supply, etc.

Lots of upsides to a jack shaft.. Alignment of chains is exponentially easier.. Changing gear ratios around is easier.. It shortens the length of chains so they are less likely to come off.. Larger driven sprockets give you more surface area to pull against and save chain and sprocket life..
