Lighting Coil Clean up

How do I clean this lighting coil up without damaging anything? Any advice would be much appreciated.

At work they use something similar to this product. It's made to clean electrical parts. I'm sure there are more options than a spray.

Home Depot sells spray cans of both general electrical cleaner/degreaser and contact cleaner in their electrical area. Both made by CRC. Good stuff and fairly cheap. Lowes probably sells it too or an equivalent. It's basically the same stuff as sludgeboy mentioned. You can get something similar at Radio Shack but you'll pay too much.
