got her pretty much stripped down of all the junk i wont need. as you can see in the pictures the the side plates the axle went through on each side is bolted on. im going to make new ones of alittle beafer steel and once bolted into place will be welded on to the body. the hangers will go in the same general area as the old holes however i might move the live axle back a few inches. just for better angle on the chain. going to give her a power wash bath this weekend and then start figuring out where the motor mount will be welded on. in the talks with a company for a custom made length axle. so thats cool. should have new plates fabbed up in the next few days or so.

nice . my first kart was rear engined rider like that it evolved into a nice ride. we eventually lowered down the seat and steering wheel so its not so top heavy

its been awhile since i got project WTF underway and honestly as its seen above is how it was last left. with the chasis just sitting in the shop taking up space and the new motor sitting on the shelf for it..........its time to get moving!!!!:scooter:

got some steel plates cut so i can make up new sides that will include the bearing hangers for the axle. got the plates marked out and drilled and temporarily mounted to the chasis on both sides. they will get welded in once everything has been lined up. in trying to keep the ride height the same i leveled off the machine, put rear wheels up to her and started taking measuremants. keeping in mind axle, sprocket, engine placemant. going to weld the bearing hangers to the plates with cutouts for the bearing and axle.
should be able to get the rear axle mounted by the end of the weekend.
ill snatch some pictures then.

cool project, just don't try to go too fast with it. It's a little too narrow to be stable at high speeds. But, if you gear it down for more power at the rear wheels it could be a fun machine.

not building this to brake any land speed records. Just a novelty machine to cruise around the compound on, maybe take a load of leaves out back with a trailer, etc. I love oddball stuff and this fits right in.

here is how ours evolved. thats me in the wagon back in the day! ot ended up with a new 5hp briggs fun power and tav. The frame couldnt take the beating running in the woods as we got heavier. kept braking spindles and the frame folded in half. still run the same engine and tav on my cat to this day

I have been pondering one of those too. I have 3 or four Snappers and an old Huffy that is pretty cool. I'll be watching for Id's

This is going to be my entry for the build off so work is on hold until the official start.
Have been pondering up many ideas to make her unique, functional, serviceable, but yet sturdy all at the same time. I cant wait to really get going on it.
