Push rod material

Here is a question for you engine guys

I am rebuilding a honda qa50 engine from spare parts

The only thing I am missing is the push rods

I think I can cut some new ones and round/ polish the ends on my lathe

Do you think 3/16 drill rod would be suitable ?
I am most concerned about hardness and the drill rod is water or oil hardened

The lenght is not to hard to measure with the engine partialy mocked up

For sure !! I would just harden the tips I've seen them made out of tube aluminum with hardened inserts

edit: as long as 3/16" is your close to the original dia.

I would just use clean oil, (that's all I've ever used ) heat up till cherry and starts to sparkle and quench.
And im sure you know radius the tips before you harden... LOL
I love those qa50's... I hear they have incredible torque for the size!!
