Can anyone tell me anything about this engine , year , was it a Sears tecumseh ? it's a 5 Hp, Model # 143-6066092 , Serial # 01 66-06393

How sure are you of those numbers? I've only seen 6 digits after the 143-

A picture would help. Sounds like a 1970 H50 but without a picture I have no idea.

The 143 designation can be from 2.5hp in a two stroke to the largest of Tecumseh engines sold through sears. I have a gold anodized 143 2 stroke likely from a snow blower or plate compactor.

OK, I bought it to use on a 10 inch wheel sears roper. I thought the 143 meant Sears. Anyway I will need to have a lighting coil and electric starter installed on it.
