Tecumseh clutch removal

IMG_3032.JPG IMG_3031.JPG How do I remove the Max Torque clutch from the 3.5hp Tecumseh motor? It has a grease fitting and bolt on the front of it. I can't seem to remove it. The clutch keeps spinning.

Hang a box wrench on the bolt and swat it with a hammer, this will jar the bolt around before the clutch has a chance to turn or use an impact gun to loosen it, same effect.

Another option would be to remove the spark plug, drop the piston down in the bore, insert a foot or so of soft rope in the hole making sure to leave some hanging out, this will safely lock the engine so you can remove the fastner, same procedure to install/tighten................Tom.

I have another question. What do I look for when I take the clutch apart, to see if it needs rebuilt? I am swapping this clutch on a 5hp Honda engine that I know runs.
