I'm looking for a tilly 304 on gas for an ok price in a reasonable condition. I would pay more if it had a throttle setup or manifold for a clone but if not then its fine. Let the offers (or lack thereof) begin!

Just a heads up. 304wx is a builders carburetor and is supposed to be setup for each customer by the dealer. If you buy a used carburetor, you need to make sure its right for your engine. They come extra lean and are drilled for each application. If EC setup a 304 for a flathead customer and you buy it used for your clone engine, it will likely be too rich for optimum performance and there is no easy way to fix it. More-so if it was drilled for alcohol. You can try 4cycle, but some of those guys are snakes and will sell you an alcohol carb claiming its gas.. If you go to a Tillotson seller who actually works on the carburetors, you can get a nice piece ready for your engine. Places like EC or their affiliates will put the right fuel curve in, set pop-off pressure and fulcrum arm height to your needs before shipping for around 125.00. Figure with manifold, studs, velocity stack, and linkage, you are going to spend 185.00 or so. If you want it tricked out; 225-250.

Now all this is from the Tilotson guru EC Birt. Yes, you can raise the pop-off on a flathead carb and turn the screws in and make it work as MDB and others will attest, but if you are going to spend good money on a carb for your 1,000.00 engine, you might as well get one that's perfect IMO.
