hi, ive got a 420cc with stock cam ,forged rod and billet flywheel. it runs very strong to about 6000 rpms with the stock 21mm carb.

i want to know if i will see significant gains by going to a bigger carb, and if so , which one would be recomended.

thanks

I had a 22 Mikuni flatslide on my 390 and it did well, once I got the jetting figured out.

For riding, I would use the 22.

For racing, 24 or maybe bigger.

Is there a reason for keeping the stock cam? If not, that's the first place I would go for more power. The bigger carb would be minimal gain with a stock cam

You are limited with the stock cam. I'm surprise you are getting 6,000 rpm's with that stock cam & carb. I would go with a bigger cam then a Tillotson carb.
