verticle to horizontal

#3
People have done it, but it looks to be both quite challenging and rather pointless, given the bounty of horizontal engines available. There are threads about this here on OldMiniBikes. Maybe you can find them by using the handy search feature.

5horsebriggs on your questions
verticle shaft enge be changed to horizontal..

. is it hard?

yes you can change a v to a h

is it hard .... well ... you need to rework the oil slinger from the paddle wheel to a dipper
deal with how to put oil in it to a proper level
carb needs to be re worked to sit like it needs to be
how to mount the motor on its side is not fun to figure out .
the flywheel may or may not work if its a mower engine you most likely will need a tiller flywheel as mowers use the blade as part of the flywheel weight .
then the crank is way to big for most of the cheap clutches . its 1 inch or so , so you have to machine it down and fit a key or get the big bore $100 clutch , or do some jack shaft clutch setup .

http://www.oldminibikes.com/forum/briggs-stratton-engines/28719-another-vertical-horizontal-mod.html there is a thread on doing some of the mods . its lot of work to do but if ya really cant find a side shaft ya can make it work .

a lawn boy motor would be less work tho 2cycle and just the crank and carb need work . put a diaphragm carb on it and have the crank turned down keyed and make a mount . :scooter::grind:

I think Tom already answered your questions pretty well.
