What is the trick to installing Bonanza fork springs?

The upper spring came off of the upper peg when removing the fork lowers.
Ive tried freezing the peg and heating the spring, and am not able to get them to go back together.
Whats the trick?

I put the spring in a vise and screwed the end piece into it.....I believe it has a hole and I put a screwdriver thru it and twisted it onto the spring.........hope that makes sense.......

Something like that only I think I was hitting it with a hammer when I was twisting it in the vise. One thing I remember is that I worked up a sweat:laugh:

yeah come to think of it.....I might have had a hammer too and said a few choice words which helped a lot...........then I had to drink me some beerz

Try holding the plug in a vice. Turn the spring at the same time you are pushing against it...turn in the direction that will "unwind" the spring.

Use some WD40.

I did it like this ...

Took about 4 hits with my Brass Hammer ... no sweat.
