wont stay running

i have a 5 hp Tecumseh. it was running when i got it. it sat for a few years till i found a frame that i wanted to put it on. know that it is in a frame i cant get it to stay running. it will stat with the spray starter but just stall like it is not getting gas. i swapped out 3 carbs and still have the same problem.


any ideas!!!

fuel bowl

Is fuel bowl still full of fuel when it stalls? This would mean that the main jet is probably clogging. Could have jello in the emulsion tube...

Maybe it really isn't getting any fuel? Is there a fuel filter that's plugged, or a bad gas line from the tank to the carb? Pull the gas line off at that carb, and see if gas from the tank is getting through it..

take off the carb bowl and see if there is old gas jellied up in there if there is the carb needs to be completely cleaned out just to make sure you get it all.

Check your compression it might not have enough to pull the mix in to fire , I had to re lap my valves and clean the carbon from the valve stems so they would close completely on my HS40 .

just repalce the carb clean the tank. it will run fine.
