1976 yamaha dt400 Q/A

#1
Ok I'm getting a 1976 dt400 tomorrow and I have a question I'm only 5'6" and 135lbs would this bike be too large for me or could I touch the ground with my feet?

Those things dont have long travel suspension. You should be just fine with the seat height.
As for the power, those engines are choked down some, but its pretty powerful.

They don't have long travel by todays standards but 76 long travel was starting , maybe mono shock or dual shocks slid forward . But they are not nearly as tall as the bikes are now. :scooter:

They're not very tall - you're fine. I have a '75 which is the same as a 76. Starting it will be a problem for you more than likely. It takes a very healthy kick (or 2 or 3) with some weight behind it.

Good luck

I had an 81 Suzuki PE400. Heavy bike, but the power....... the :censure: thing could climb a tree. The older 400 2 strokes had instant power. Be careful and have fun.
