Snowbike

#1
Hi! i'm planning on building a snowbike. i'm thinking about using a snowblower track instead of rear tire, and a ski thing instead of front tire. i wondered of anyone here could give me some tips?
Thx.

This is a picture of the bike i will be using:

not much to it. you will need to move your axle monts back so the track clears the engine mount. you will probrobly need a torque converter but you can try without it first and see how it works. youll also have to convert to live axle becuase they usually use a 3/4" shaft that goes all the way through. and they are usually geared down internally so youll have to compensate for that with a small gear on the live axle. I havnt dealt with a ski but i gather you need an edge on either side of the ski to grab on turns otherwize its pretty useless

smallbikes88 , you have a link to a thread on that build?

I plan to make a bike like that. I have the Track, 7hp Tec engine and a Ski.

The rest is to be made or aquired.

Like the front and rear snow pan idea, good thought, I did not think of.

BTW, Track came from Track style Snowblower .

Thanks Harleys Papa for Yoop's link. I love that build.....!

I do have the pair of tracks and a twin track would do much better in the snow than one.

So, I'll think on that. Hummm

Going to look for smallbikes88 build thread now.

Wild build also jeep ! A Little too complex for me

Just lately, I've picked up two mini bike frames. To try and build this thing.

Picking the best one I feel is suited, Changing out the front fork for a more narrow one, for the ski.

Re-building that fork into a suspension fork !:hack:

It is OR was an old school MX Bicycle fork , with the high-speed front adjustment.

Saving the other fork for wheel replacemrnt for summer riding.

No majour changes to the rear, so Track or wheel could be used in summer.

However, I will now be working in reverse of my OG drawing plan.

I also picked up two more tracks and drives, just got lucky i guess.

I'm not useing any drives in this build, just the 4" rear tire (4.10x3.50x4) which is about 1" taller than the OG track drives.

Question ?

40/41 drive sprocket

How many tooth should I be getting with a 4.10x3.50x4 tire ?

I was looking at 54 tooth is 9" O.D. OR 48 tooth, 48 is 8" O.D. tire is 10"

Tire Plus Track would make it around 10-3/4"

I've been thinking, :evil_laughter: I have 4 tracks now & all are the same!

2 sets of drives & 2 idelers plus mounting plates.

So what if next summer I make this a quad track on the rear with ski on the front? Hmmmmmm:eek:ut: It would make each track have a
1 foot X 1.5 foot pad X2 on the snow, hows that for floatation, just a thought....

But see where it would need a diff / trans axle.
