Unfortunately if you say metal shavings got into the bore then your going to have to re-hone it. I would re-hone it regardless because after replacing any rings you need that nice 45 degree angle cross hatch in the bore to cut and seat them properly. If not then you run the risk of the rings...

Yea I'm worried about the air. I think the oil coming out is the assembly lube I used to put everything together. I might have got some in the valve guides.
