4 hp head on a 5 hp block

i have a 4 hp briggs engine and i was at a local race shop and they stated to put the head off of the 4 hp on the 5 hp block he stated that it waslike installing a decked head. Anybody heard of this?

yea man that is true. the 4hp head is 20 thousandths shorter that the 5hp head. so its really the same as a 5hp head cut 20 thousandths. :thumbsup:

yes and lose flow your better of decking 5hp head you will loose power with the 4hp head

Your gain from compression will be more then you lose from flow

go to 4cycle.com look up 4hp head in the flathead forum do a search there is a recent thread on this professsional engine builders with dynos factual proof will tell you it will loose power
