50 mph cat

#1
I trying to get my cat up to 50 mph I bought the frame stretched on craigslist. I bought a tav2 and a 15 in rear wheel for it (still waiting for it), I plan on cutting off the existing motor plate completely off welding a new plate on , adding a hydraulic brake on the sprocket , painting it and making a new seat for it. This is what it looks like now .

No I bought another stretched cat frame with original cat bars , I probably wont need a chain tensioner with a tav2 :p But if I did get some skateboard wheels that I traded for a beer.

My cat bike does 36 right now and it feels boring 50 to 55 should be fun.

I got my tav2 today and had time to work on the cat . I cut off the old motor mounts , scrub brake, welded on a new plate, drilled the mounting holes , and mounted the tav2 to the predator.

I lifted the motor up with some big nuts  and have some dom tubing chopped and notched for the footpegs. Now I just need the 15 in rear tire, a 13 in front tire, need the hydraulic brake fixed and mounted, make a new seat, and weld on the new foot pegs . And of course a paint job I am thinking of going with some copper hammered finish spray paint.

I got the rear tire today and decided to paint it dark hammered gray but I am still working on the brakes. I am having problems with the piston going back and the brake pad falling off any ideas? I can't ride it until the brakes are finished  :confused:any other ideas for brakes on a mini bike with a tav2?

I made a new seat, put the new throttle on, got the band brakes on , and took it for a ride. It feels more torquey than before but it seems to shift before I can do a wheelie on flat ground. If I go uphill it will wheelie, kinda bummed that I lost a lot of top end the bike feels like its going about 30 mph, far from my goal. Is there anything I can to to get more top end with my tav2 , would moving the spring to position 2 or 3 fix my problem?

I like that seat a lot, is that and old leather pillow cover?

As far a as the speed your looking for, I think 50 mph is doable with your set up. You might have to play around with it and get it dialed in.

I had a 6.5 hp clone with govenor removed on my son's Cat 250X and pulled off 41 mph hauling my 200lbs. So you should be able to get a lil faster on yours if you can dial it in.

thanks I made the seat from an old purse that my grandma once owned and I stuffed it with high quality extra dense carpet padding. I hope I can find away to make the tav2 go up to 5000 rpms.
