2013 build off bike DB with 390

#1
Yes, I am putting this one up for sale. Time to thin the tiny herd to pay for the new projects.

Build thread

DB30 frame with major mods, forks shortened about 2" for the 12" front rim. Frame stretched about 12" and widened to 14"+ for the slick. Honda GX390 with some mods listed below. Comet 108C clutch driver fully rebuilt and Arctic Cat driven fully rebuilt with fairly new belt. Mickey Thompson ET Jr drag slick 18/8.5/8. Live 1" rear axle. Custom gas tank. Parsons S bend kart exhaust header modified to straight back. Supertrapp T100 muffler. Has billet puke tank.

GX390 has:
ARC billet rod
ARC standard size billet flywheel
6 degree timing key
Champion rockers
AGK chromolly pushrods custom length 6.755"
Parsons standard size stainless valves
Parsons 55# valve springs and aluminum retainers
minor port and polish, mostly cleaned and port matched
Head milled .110"
New ARP bolts on head and side cover
New Honda 390 stock bore piston with no mods and file fit rings, .018 deck to edge of dish.
No resistor plug wire
Mikuni TM32-1 flat slide carb with custom manifold
Still has balancing shaft modified/polished to clear the oil dipper on the ARC rod.
Cam will not be disclosed except to buyer, as it is a custom grind.

Clutch is set to 3000 rpm engagement.
Valves float about 6300rpm as a governor with this setup.

Other specifics are in my build thread.

I actually like riding this one better than my Predator powered DB, but something has to go.

$1k OBO. If this doesn't sell, I am going to strip it for parts. Someone buy this and take it to a drag strip please.

Shipping is on buyer.

Thanks!

Wasn't there some more posts?

Anyway, some other info:

The clamp for the front brake master is cracked. The cylinder side is fine, just needs the little clamp cap.

This is a gas motor, I will be including some larger jets if you want to go alky. Not sure if they are big enough for alky though. The pilot jet is wrong, I think too big, and will need a smaller one for better off idle. Go wide open and she pulls hard.

I never took this to the drag strip. I never made a high speed run to check top speed. I am sure the clutch will need more tuning to get it to work properly. It works well for general riding, but dunno about drag launches, top end overdrive, etc. The one hard run I did had higher top speed than my predator/db which tops at 43mph. With the way it is geared now, if this was a centrifugal clutch, calculators say 88mph at 6krpm.

The paint is no longer perfect, never was, there are some chips, scratches.

The above is why the price is lower than what it should be. If this was fully tuned and slips proving 80+mph in the 1/4, sale price would be double or more.

I have not checked the bike's weight, or shipping costs. I will disassemble and box it up at cost of supplies if the buyer wishes. Can build a crate and ship it complete, but carrier and all shipping costs are up to the buyer. Will deliver to freight depot.

I may have other plans for the 390, as such I am going to give this another week or two and then :hack:

Willing to sell as a roller....

For everything except the 390, intake, and exhaust?

$400 + shipping.

This sells by July 13th or :hack:

Someone make me an offer I can't refuse.

BTW, this setup has almost no vibration. Very smooth. Glad I built the heavy motor plate into it.

Going to ride it tomorrow....

I haven't found anyone that sells mini bike's with a engine, that has shipping over $150.00! so, since there is no engine, it should be less.

Find out the weight of the motor.if you can sell the frame to Sam for 550,hows about i give you the difference (are whatever you think is fair) plus shipping? I don't need the exhaust either. Does the Tav go with the frame or motor or neither? i don't need it,just trying to figure out what goes what the motor exactly. I really just need the motor with carb.

Edit.i just checked UPS and it would be 129 for ground @100lbs to me.

I got an idea find out what shipping would be to my house my zip is 34997 here in florida without the engine and that will represent most likely the highest shipping so everyone will have an idea an idea of shipping cost ... a gx390 weighs about 65 lbs .... at some point you will have to say how much it is to ship it right now you keep telling us its going to cost a lot to ship but you arnt telling us how much

Thats what i figured.if the motor weighs 65-70 lbs..time you crate it up it might weigh at the most 100lbs.I checked with UPS 129 to my door, plus the cost of packing it up right. lets do this.

Okay, My biggest issue with shipping is the size(length mostly) of the frame. The box required for it will be tough to fit under the normal shipping guidelines for UPS and Fedex. If the box is too big or heavy, it falls into freight guidelines and costs more. That and then the multiple smaller boxes for the wheels, forks, clutch, etc. Due to the weight and size limits per box, this may take a bit.

That and I don't have the plywood to built crates yet. I will start breaking it down and boxing it up, what I can, and see where this falls.

Sending PM to Bruce.

I just checked several shippers website and in all cases, the cost to ship just the frame, due to length, is $191-$212. The $191 is Fedex to Detroit from my place, same price to Stuart. The frame is 51" long not including whatever crate it gets put in. Then the additional boxes for the other parts.

Now if you want me to cut the frame in half, the shipping gets down to the $100 range.

This is why I have an issue with the shipping.

And BTW the clutch stays with the frame since it was made for it.

Motor is sold.

The 13th is still my deadline. If we can't figure something out on the roller, I will start selling the pieces/parts individual.

And if anyone is travelling from the Seattle area to Michigan that would be willing to take this along, please let us know.
