We had archery when I was in junior high but have heard of school having air rifle and even 22 cal., I can't imagine many schools now days allowing either air rifles or archery since even fingernail clippers are considered a weapon.

My high school (class of '75) had a rifle range under the stage in the auditorium. The school had a bunch of .22 single shot rifles. I earned my NRA hunter safety card in gym class there.

Never had that up here in Canada.
But it sounds like something well worth having!

Come to think of it we didn't have a school pool or archery.

IF you have a school with these kinds of activities WOW your lucky and should use them.

No when I went to high school we hade a welding shop, machine shop, two auto shops, a wood shop and that was it.
Then the started closing these things in order to make room for dance stuido and drama.

When I graduated there was nothing but some extremely light in the loafer activities and little in the way of useful stuff outside of the hockey and football team.

Use these facilities or you will loose them and get stuck with drama because its cheap and looks good for the shool board.

Back in my day was on the school shooting team. Our National service was compulsory so anything military was available at school. Shooting - Cadets all in preparation.

We use sible shot .22 rifles with peephole sights. We used to call them Dikloop.
Means thick barrel - these puppys had a 3/4 barrel with 5.59mm hole threw the middel - heavy as hell, but very acurate would have made goos sniper rifle

Man that was twenty odd years ago

Back in the 70's and 80's EXXON Research had regular Trap and Skeet competitions at the local range...still have a few trophies I earned in trap...never was any good at skeet....but all of that is long gone as is the range we used to use.

Today I think if you even mentioned the word "shotgun" one of the safety nazis would pull the alarm and they would escort you off the site.....:anon.sml:

I had a Sheridan "Blue Streak".....used a hollow pointed pellet which was way different than the BB guns we had as kids....bought it in Virginia about 30 years ago.

I had a silver streak it shot the pointy 5 millimeter pellets. My brother had a crossman 1400 it shot 22 pellets it was more durable a better gun I thought.

when I was in Jr.high School in the early 60's I carried a rifle to school. not to shoot my classmates over lunch money. We had a rifle team. All of us were given a special lock to place on out lockers. Only three people had the combination.
You can to school, the action was open or the bolt in your pocket. You went straight to the locker and secured the rifle. When it was time for training or competition, you removed it and went to the range next to the school.
I never heard of anyone ever doing anything stupid with their rifles. We had lots of fun. The training saved my ass in Viet Nam. I still shoot today and run one of the largest shooting clubs in New Mexico.
Can you imagine taking a REAL rifle to school today?

We never had that at my school, but then again we had no pool either! We had a small welding/wood shop and thats about it.

I remember my old boss telling me about being on his high school shooting team. They used single shot .22s of some assortment.
