If you are careful you can cut the old straight pipes off the bent shaft and re-weld on the new center shaft which might be less work then trying to get the old bushing out.
That's what I'm gonna do. I took my swing arm to my local iron shop and they hooked me up with material I need to make a new center shaft and bushing. I'll post some pics of the repair when I'm done.
OK. I agree it's easy. I just built a jig for the 1969 Rupp rear arm assy. Due to the same issue. Got some of the correct DOM tubing and had it all tig welded up. Transferred over the wheel mounts from the original. Regards,

Here's a pic of the trimmed off pieces of tubing from making the new center tube. The smaller tube turns smoothly inside the bigger one. I tapped the smaller tube for the mounting bolts.
yep same thing on my rupp. I heated the whole thing cherry red and it still wouldnt press out. I gave up and just left the bolts a little loose lol I'll leave it for the next guy
