Cleaning aluminum

#1
What are you guys using to clean aluminum? I have some Rupp wheels that have turned white,I can put them in the bead blaster, but if there is something I can soak them in and remove the corrosion I would rather.I know that on some old car parts, namely zinc and aluminum tag plates,I soak them in vinegar and it eats the mung right off.

they sell a acidic etching mag wheel cleaner for cast parts that will remove the white crap but you need to spray on let it foam up then scrub with a toothbrush or a paintbrush to get into the fins (a cheap one) then wash off after no more than a few minutes or it can turn it dark. I would then bead blast them to get them back to virgin aluminum. Autozone used to carry it.

Walnut shells in your blaster should be a less aggressive clean up for your wheels.

I use them for delicate Quadra-Jet carb parts without destroying the finishes.
Follow up with a good polish.
