Hey guys i just tore down a freebie and discovered that this engine has no bearing at all! Just one bushing, I guess my question is when did they start cutting back that hard on quality? This is a 99 model and i wonder if it is worth trying to run on a bike?:doah:

Run it. A lot of the older ones didn't even have a bushing. Keep the oil clean, and you should have no problem. Being I/C, it probably has a cast iron bore, that's a plus.

At least 50 years ago. I have a mid-1950s iron B&S with no bearings. Lots of the kart racers use Cool Bore bushing blocks, so don't worry about. They do prefer the dual bearing I/C blocks, though, especially since chromed pistons for the aluminum bores are getting harder to find.
