Being that the bracket is so short, I do not think that it would make any significant difference being made of steel or aluminum.

If vibration becomes an issue, I would try using rubber washers or grommets.
If you go the rubber route, you will also need to use nylon lock nuts, as you do not want to crank down and completely compress the rubber.

If you mount one on top, one on bottom of that steel plate, put a couple of washers between them at the headlight bolt, your vibration problem should be fixed.
I see your point. Would be stiff as a weld, then!

I suppose actual vibration tests are a ways off yet. Chicago's expecting snow soon and these bikes are still hibernating in the dining room.

Yeah I'll probably file out the holes more on these "temporary" ones - to find the best fit and design. And I can paint em too. And on that note I can see these temporaries still being on the bikes a few years from now ...before I ever get around to remaking em :scooter:
