Honda clone 196cc runing rough at speed

#1
Hi group,
I have bought a used CT200u with a Honda 196cc clone. When I got it it had sat for a long time, gas gumed up the carb. So I replaced with a new one, replaced the plug with a NGK, It idles good but at high speed she breaks up. I know there is no high speed adjustment on theas carbs, but what would the next step I should take ? I am old school with carbs you can adjust not the carbs out today :(

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it's not just the governor pulling throttle back causing a surging condition? Or is it misfiring and backfiring.

Where did you get your new carb from ? This is the high speed jet and e-tube from a clone / predator carb. You might want to pull the new carb off and take the fuel bowl off this jet is up in the same hole as the bowl bolt you took off . Good chance your new carb could of had some junk in it when put together at the factory, or possibly something could of come off the rubber hose when you installed the new carb.

Ole4 it is not surging, more like missing/starving for gas. OND I got the carb from OldMiniBikes. I will have to try 2 things now, ck the jets to see if anything in there, clean the crap out of the old carb an see how that one works :(

I would poke something through the main jet and e-tube. It might be a new carb, but that doesn't mean it was cleaned right from factory. There might be a chip stuck in the jet.

Also, at high speed, add a little choke and see if it picks up.:scooter:
