Old briggs carb rebuild

#1
Where to get Carb rebuild kits? I have a 3HP model 80202 from 1968 according to the codes. I've emailed 3 Ebay folks that claim to sell the kits and have not gotten a single response. I need the diaphram, needle and seat, the gas tank gaskets, and the carb body to block gaskets.

I see them for like 15 bucks but can't get any verification if they are the right kits.

Oh is there a kit for removing the throttle plate packing? I want to powder coat the carb body.

Who has leads?

Thanks.

Try to find a small engine repair shop or lawnmower shop that has been around for 30 or 40 years. Talk to the owner or one of the older guys who's been around a while. They might have listings in their old books,or have NOS kits left over. There may be a kit for removing the throttle shaft . On the larger ones, they even have bushings for the carb body where the shafts go through. They're prone to wear around the throttle shaft causing air leaks.Once a leak developes, the air will actually cut away at the carb body.

Good ole briggs! Cant go wrong with that!
Just take them vin codes to a local lawnmower repair shop instead of ordering something that might be wrong. I went to one and got a whole carb rebiuld kit for my 1974 4hp briggs. Costed 16 buck. Came with new needle, jet, diaphram and 4 carb to tank gaskets. Two were the same kind and the other two were different.

When I want one "NOW" I go to the lawn mower shop (found to ok shops)

Beware on how you ask because one place said they could get fined $10.000 if they sell you parts to modify newer engine and wont sell it if you ask that way. :eek:ut:

Hey Jeff

Lawnmower shops by me have crazy prices. The parts i looked up for you are the correct parts for that model engine. You would probably save a few bucks by ordering it from outdoordistibutors.
