Old G200 flathead

#1
I've got an old g200 flathead motor on a log splitter thats in kind of bad shape. Just wondering if anyones ever done anything with them. I know it's got a steel sleeve bore. I was thinking of using this motor as a eventual replacement on my super stock db 30. I got it running about a year ago after it had been sitting around out side a while. I put a carb on it off an old 2 stroke lawn boy push mower because the stock carb was in bad shape. It would clean up nice with a little work.

I ran a G200 with some modifications ( nothing like that discribed ).

Intake port on that engine is awful and needs some clean up.

It was a very good engine.

In 1985 a G200 replacement connecting rod cost near 100 dollars as I recall.
Now a GX200 clone is less than that.....

I got a parts motor thats missing the flywheel and a valve. Anyone need parts off it? Found its oil ring fits a slightly honed Tecumseh OHH50 piston. looks good shape otherwise. bore is clean, rod is there. non tapered crank.
