You'd think that Toyota would have been able to avoid the several outrageously large re-calls they have been saddled with in the last couple of years. As the old 'Big Three' American automakers have to pay an average of $2000 for each car they manufacture, to finance the Union Retirement programs that Toyota does not, that Toyota would be in a position to spend 10 cents more per vehicle to do some better engineering. Them old American car makers do pretty good considering the Union handycap they operate under.
