TT500 Not Shifting

Bought a used tt500 and seems to be stuck in high gear and not working in the low range. Any suggestions would be appreciated before I tear into it.

common problem on these 2speeds...try to see if you can rebuild the one way bearing/bendix gear that engages the low speed. it could be rusty or just fubar. if you can save it be sure to pack it with lots of grease:thumbsup:

I tore the bike completely apart and noticed a new high speed clutch was installed recently. I think it engages to early at the low end of the engine power band. I'll need to find more info on the clutches. Are the Rupp manuals on eBay any good?

will that bike take a tc-1

tc-1? Is that a torque converter?

sometimes when people put those together the primary (clutch on engine) they don't seat the plate correctly and that will cause the system to malfunction, check the front clutch assembly make sure the inner portion is slidding in and out,thats what engaes the belt. hope this helps:thumbsup:

Thanks .... but mt tt500 has a dual chain drive jackshaft arrangement.
