what next for 5.5hp clone?

i've got a Wen Power (Pep Boys) 5.5hp clone motor in my mini. right now it's got a straight pipe and a K&N filter on it. what should i do next? is it time for an aftermarket carb so i can do some tuning on it?

i've got the same motor exept its a 6.5, some guys from the kart forum told me to add 18lb valve springs advance the timing to 6 degrees, and get a bigger carb like u said.
