Who is our Golf Kart Pro? I need Help.

I picked up a Yamaha G1 Golf Kart, a KE175 Dirt Bike, and a Schwinn Sting Ray bike for $50.00 yesterday. I tore down the Engine on the Golf cart and found that it has a broken Piston Skirt, and bad Rod Bearings. What I need to know is if my briggs 5 horse will be a adiquite replacement, or if it is to small. The rebuild kit for the cart is $399.00, so that just is not a option.

most engines for golf carts are at least 8 HP, but if its the typical Torque converter drive system that most golf carts have, that 5HP might work.

dobber i was in the same boat i put a 8hp briggs and a tav set up it's on the slow side but it can climb walls

That sounds like what I may have to do, I only have a 5 horse now, so I will be on the hunt.

i had to get a motor with a 1 inch shaft to work with my torque converter
