197? Tecumseh lighted HS40

Runs great. Just took it off the shelf from getting it running last fall. Filled with gas and it fired right up. Has the long shaft that is keyed and tapped. Tested coil today and you can see by the video and pics it's working also. $300 plus shipping. Doesn't come with a gas tank. I did install a kill wire.

It has both male and female plugs for the lighted.

how long is that crank, 2.5 inches or 3 inches?
Do you have the serial number and model number plate? it looks like it is missing?

I'll measure the crank this evening. It never had a plate since I've owned it. Here's a pic of the outline of decal that was on the shroud.

That I wouldn't know. Do you know what that bike calls for as an engine option? Someone else on here might help us out on an answer.

Without the original serial number plate it will be hard to tell exactly what it originally came with.

The correct engine for a Climber would have the recoil studs rotated in a diamond pattern, as opposed to the square pattern on this engine. Other than that, it's a lighted HS40 that looks to be in the 71-73 year range.

it had 4 hs Tecumseh .
it is a climber model . not sure of the shaft length or diameter size that is correct for this app
l need to check into this

That is a Fox specific HS40 these are the numbers for that particular engine combination #55266b

these are the numberplate and shroud/plate from the bikes shown below for verification (orange was a 1969 black was a 1970)

It has the Correct shroud cover so it was definatley a lighted engine from start
