Yes by putting a little pressure on top of the piston with your fingers, you can use a popsickle stick ot a flat screw driver to start pushing around the rings one at a time and they will go in. I always pour oil on the rings first to help them slide in. Be sure to stagger your rings as you install them. Hope this helps. :sleep1:
Ring compressor is prefered.
I have managed to do rings on these without one, but its not a good idea.
The face of the ring is prescision ground and often has a hard crome coating.
You can chip or adamge this if you force things even with a popsickle stick.
Also you can mess up the way the oil control ring nests in the grove.
But a ring coompressor makes things go in a lot easier
