3HP flywheel on a 5HP?

#4
Thaks guys, I'm in the middle of swaping stuff from a parts 5HP and the flywheel I wanted to use has a few chips. I have plenty of 3HP engines though and fitting a coil shouldn't be a problem.

What are the pro's and cons of putting the 3HP flywheel on? I take it less weight but what else? Wanna hear the bad stuff to if any. Thanks! I needed that answer today!

Your engine will rev much quicker, especially if the 3hp flywheel is aluminum.
I give it 1hr before the exploding flywheel crap starts.:doah:

No aluminum one's and I hope you are joking about the exploading. Thats what I'm trying to avoid with the chipped wheels. :sadcrying4:

On the last one I did, the 3hp was so much smaller that I had to drill new holes. Too far to slot the original ones. Be sure to clamp it tightly on either side of where you are working to avoid seperating the plates of the coil. It wouldn't be any more likely to blow on the 5hp than the 3hp. Just use an aluminum key if it had one.
