5 hp briggs block

#1
Have a chance to get a NOS cast iron sleeved block. What does DU block mean? I suspect it refers to the flywheel side. Please help me understand what this means and if a special crank is needed. I have a PTO side cover with the small bearing for use on this block. Am I good to go or ?? thanks

DU refers to a type of metal that removeable bushings are made from.
It usually means that the engine block has a removeable bushing where the crankshaft is installed.

Most crankshafts for bushing engines are interchangeable. Unless you have a ball bearing on the flywheel side of the crankshaft.

Yes, you are good to go... You have a bearing side cover for it and the crankshaft will work fine. Dual bearing is nice, but the removable bushing block is just as good..Also, the sleeved cylinder allows you to use any piston you want...Good luck..
