A fat tire bobber.. ? First build.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, the boys were impressed with how much power it has, and they're bugging me to get it finished...
It does handle well, too. I rode it hands off for a little bit. As far as I can measure the rake came out at 26 degrees and the trail is around 3 - 3-1/2 inches ... pretty much what I was shooting for. It does get a bit bouncy with the seat springs and tires combined. I'm also wondering how much difference the new exhaust will make.

I got the neck gussets welded in on the weekend. I think I'll box it in on the bottom, mostly to keep junk out of there, it already seems pretty strong.

The boys wanted me to put it back together so they could ride it, but I've decided to just get the frame finished up and painted before I reassemble.

I found the cover for the TAV that's on our go kart, I think I'll use it as a clutch cover for now. The backplate for that tav is being used on the Dirt Bug for the jackshaft. And now the cover on this bike... it's really spread around...

Okay..... that took a long time... lots of other stuff going on, I guess. Got the clutch cover mounted this afternoon, that was the last thing I wanted to do before calling it done... for this year. Still needs fenders (probably), a kick stand, and new muffler. I'll work on a new seat with a steel pan this winter as well.

I went with flat black because I thought it would be easiest to repaint since I'll be welding on a bracket or two here and there.

A couple of 90 degree brackets for the clutch cover.
...and I forgot to paint the jackshaft plate..

I acquired some leather last night, so I might work on a new seat sooner rather than later. Definitely need some foam (at least) on the aluminum seat, it's a pretty good heat sink, and it was just above freezing yesterday...

Hey, I searched the multi-quote thing, I feel bad I didn't do that earlier. Thanks again to everyone for the comments.

Outstanding job. Looks very clean and well engineered.
Thanks, Dave. And thanks for your input and help.

looks good......... gearing looks just right for pulling a person around....:scooter:
Thanks, yeah, the ratio seems good for now. It's almost 13:1. I'm sort of curious to measure up a tav a to see if it's a future possibility.

Wow the bike looks great
Thank you, I'm really happy with it.

Very impressive work. Fat tire bikes rule.:thumbsup:
Thanks. ...and I have to agree...
