Adding front brake to Baja Warrior MB200

#26
You are over thinking it.
Stay with a drum its all you need.

You might think you can stop faster and brake harder with a disk but all you will end up doing is causing stress cracks and bearing failure because the front end was never designed to take the extra stress.

Its a minibike.
It handles like a drunk on roller skates and corners like a cow...
Not much that any rational person would drive it beyond with a simple front drum brake.

Hydraulic disc brakes perform better overall. Drums are aweful, can't stop.

A drag chute and disk brakes all around will make you stop even faster.
Have at her....

For anyone else who is looking at this thread stick with the same drum in the front as the Baja used in the rear ( or what ever you drive ).
Parts are easier and the bike will stop at least in half the distance with much better down hill control in loose dirt.
Use the Honda brake pads and search this forum for trips and tricks to reduce brake squeal and improve stopping and brake feel.

I would not mind the use of a disk brake on the front wheel if it was not too much extra effort and someone
could tell me what model numbers of parts and sources to get them etc... Has anyone else actually done the
disk brake conversion or was someone just doing some wishful thinking ?

As far as wishful thinking..... I 'd kinda like to put a turbocharger on mine and make both wheels pull like the ROKON :)

I am looking to add front brakes to my CT200u-ex. A lot of the pictures on this thread have been taken down by photobucket. Can someone post pictures of the bracket they made for front drum brakes on their CT200u or Baja warrior? I am planning on ordering the rear wheel and brake kits off of the coleman site unless there is a better alternative. Other than the bracket parts do I need to purchase anything else? Thanks

I'm looking for a brake drum assembly for a baja warrior if anyone knows where to get them...

Patrick I would flip the brake to the left side so that the brake arm is rearward and not as likely to get grabbed by a root or something else. On the right it sticks forward and can get bent.

excellent point. I was thinking of flipping it to the other side for possible better cable management. those rear brake cables are too long so I'm trying to be creative to take up the "slack"

Try a PW 80 front brake cable........

Haven't tried one yet but they measure the correct length.
