Aux shaft alternator generator?

#1
I have found a few Tecumseh engines with the second shaft on them. It is easier and less expensive to buy one of these than a lighted coil motor for most projects because I live in a winter wonderland. I was wondering because I am cheap if anyone has chosen to add an alternator or a generator of some sort to power lights, stereo and other things. Any ideas? Does that shaft turn at the same speed as the other? Just curious because like I said I am cheap.

That shaft should turn twice for ever revolution of the main output shaft. It's just an extension of the cam.

I don't know about putting any sort of generator on it, but I would think a lighted flywheel and coil would be cheaper/easier to do.

What sort of generator are we talking about here? Maybe you could put a small rubber wheel on that shaft and mount one of those bike tire generators close up to it and let it rub one out on it. I think its a cool idea. But the half speed of that shaft may not do much.
