Emphasis on the WELD that joins the piece together. Is it ground to make it appear seamless?

I grinded it to make it seamless, then paint.
And on the tires I have ice picks for racing, they're just wraps so they don't dull when I move the bike on concrete or anywhere.

I welded it and painted it, once its done I just put the welded side towards the bottom.

it's like 14 gauge sheet metal, so welding is a pain in the :censure:
you can't get a decent bead because once you do it just burns through

Just a suggestion, you might try lapping the edges rather than butting them. Are you welding with an Oxy-Acetylene torch?

it's a stick and a car battery. you will never ger a good weld on the thin stuff. not to sound like i know what i'm doing, but the welds in your pics are not at the right setting. oxy/brass/braze will work but i'm using mig on the fuel tank i'm making. low heat/feed and basically tack, waiting one second between half second tacks. long/slow/boring process. and might turn out looking like crAp.

i tried lapping them, but it wasn't the right size, so it was already formed and i couldn't get in there to cut it, it's a brand new hobart wire welder, that picture of my red minibike, thats was from the old pile of :censure: arc welder, so we bought a new one
