Briggs 170402-1406-01 oil capacity

Can anyone tell me what the oil capacity is on the 7hp? I cant find a owners manual anywhere for those #'s. Anyone? Does 20oz's sound right? dip stick is broken or didnt have one. There are two fill holes on the block, one on each side.

44 ounces according to my Briggs manual, which sounds like to much to me?. Or to the top of the threads in the oil filler.

so basically if the fillers are across from eachother then put il in until is hit the ridge of the other one? 44oz seems like alot to me to but i did see that somewhere else. Wish I could find something on this specific model!

Sometimes you need to enter 99 instead of 01 on the last two numbers.

44 ounces is correct?

On a motor that is moving and bouncing around, you may get oil out the breather if you fill it that full. When they raced tote gotes with this motor, they only filled them half full. I run 36oz in the motors we rebuild.
