Your talking about the wire that goes to the spark plug correct? That is still connected. Also how would I clean the points.

They are under the flywheel under a thin aluminum cover.. Take of the recoil housing, the starter ratchet, flywheel, cover... then close up some fine sand paper between the points and scratch them clean.. Sometimes a dollar bill works very well on them and is actually a good idea even after sanding, to wipe out sand paper debris...

Ohhhhhh What I do is take the two little 1/4" screws out of the cover, take the cover off.. THEN PUT THE SCREWS BACK IN or the inner cover will fall off and your balls will fall out. :doah: But once your little screws are screwed back in, wedge the flywheel from turning with like a wrench wedged into the thickest iron cooling fin, pushed all the way to the flywheel itself to hold the flywheel still, then use a pipe wrench on that socket to screw it off like any other nut.. They just screw onto the crank and hold the flywheel on.

Make sure to get your washer back on with the dome facing out, it works as a lock washer... Also lube the crank with a drop of transmission fluid or three to lube the crank inside of that square driver unit thingamabob when ya put the stuff back together..

My Offer still stands, for this Motor?
I have an awesome little 2.5 rebuilt, restored with decals intact. Original diaphram carb and 3/4" shaft so it's a heavy duty engine. The crank seal leaks due to removing the side cover for inspection and not seeing the keystock stuck on the crank.
